An Important Update from Monterey Skates

Dear Monterey Skates Community,

We wanted to share an important update with you.

After March, Monterey Skates will no longer be able to operate at the Fairgrounds, which means March 27–28 will be our final skating weekend at this locationwhile we actively search for a new venue.

This isn’t the message we hoped to send—and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. Over the past year, Monterey Skates has become a safe, welcoming community spacewhere kids, teens, adults, and families could gather, move, laugh, and skate together. That has always been our mission, and it’s one we’re committed to continuing.

We’ve been searching for a home for Monterey Skates for several years now and have considered nearly every empty or underused space across Pacific Grove, Monterey, Seaside, and Marina. If you know of a venue—temporary or permanent—that could be a good fit for roller skating, we would truly love to hear from you. Sometimes the best leads come from community connections.

This update also makes something else especially meaningful to us.

We were planning to ask for your support in voting for Monterey Skates in the Monterey Bay Parents Family Favoritesawards, under **“Family Fun” → “Indoor Activity.”**Receiving recognition—even an honorable mention—could make a real difference as we speak with potential venue partners who may be on the fence about hosting us.

If Monterey Skates has brought joy to your family, helped you rediscover skating, or simply given you a place to belong, your vote would mean the world to us.

No matter what comes next, please know how grateful we are for every lap skated, every birthday celebrated, and every weekend shared. This is not goodbye—it’s just the next chapter, and we hope you’ll be part of it.

We’re looking forward to our next weekend, January 16-18!

With gratitude and hope,

❤️ The Monterey Skates Team!
