Refund Policy
We try to keep this policy short and readable, so you know where you stand if plans change. If a specific scenario isn’t covered here, please reach out — we’d rather have a conversation than hide behind fine print.
Deposits
A 50% deposit secures your date. The deposit is non-refundable, but it converts to a reschedule credit valid for 12 months if you need to cancel — see the Cancellation Policy for details.
The remaining balance is due 14 days before your event.
If we can’t deliver the event we promised
If Monterey Skates cancels for any reason within our control — equipment failure, staff illness we can’t cover, a scheduling error on our end — you receive a full refund of everything you’ve paid, including the deposit.
Weather, venue, and other things outside anyone’s control
If safety or venue conditions make the event impossible (severe weather, a venue closure, power loss, evacuation order, or similar), we prioritize rescheduling to a mutually workable date within 12 months at no additional cost.
If rescheduling truly isn’t possible, we refund the balance you’ve paid minus the deposit — which reflects the work we’ve already done to prepare (equipment holds, staffing commitments, coordination time).
If you cancel
Client-initiated cancellations are handled under the Cancellation Policy. The short version:
- 30+ days before the event: balance refunded in full; deposit becomes a reschedule credit
- 15 to 29 days before: half the balance refunded; deposit and remaining half become a reschedule credit
- Less than 15 days before: no refund of paid amounts, but a reschedule credit is issued for the balance
How refunds are issued
Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days of the qualifying event. If the original payment method is no longer available, we’ll issue a check to the address on file.
Reschedule credits
Reschedule credits are valid for 12 months from the original event date and are transferable to another event you organize (a birthday can become a school fundraiser, for example). Credits do not extend beyond 12 months except in extraordinary circumstances — if you need more time, let us know.
